Piraino Emersive Experience

About this experience

The local historic hill town of Piraino is just 30 minutes’ drive from Gioiosa Marea and is one of those hidden gems that one wouldn’t normally get to see. In fact, we have organised a half day experience that is exclusive to Ideal Sicily.

The experience starts with a coffee at the only bar in Piraino which has stunning views out across the coast and Nebrodi mountains.

This is followed by a tour of the historic village, its most important churches, a visit onto the roof of the famous Torre Saracena and a stroll around La Guardiola to take in the breath-taking surrounding views.

Then it’s off to the private home of Ignazio and Rosanna for a lunch of Pane Cunzato (warm home baked bread with tomatoes and anchovies). Like in every Sicilian home, you’ll be encouraged to taste Ignazio’s home-made wine and Grappa the latter of which should carry a health warning!
